11 steps to run an effective email marketing campaign

8. Create Awesome Content

Of course, what is the point of an effective CTA and perfect imagery without awesome content, right? Create content that your recipients will actually want to read. Make it interesting, informative, brief, and worthy of their time. 

Use the email content to supplement your call to action by giving further information. Perhaps the CTA itself will talk them into clicking, but if it doesn’t, decide what you’d want to say to them to talk them into it. That should be your awesome content.

9. Build Sense of Urgency

Within your email marketing, create a sense of urgency that will get them to want to sign up or purchase as soon as possible. According to Campaign Monitor, it is actually rooted in psychology that people are more likely to decide immediately if faced with a sense of urgency. 

In order to create that urgency, set deadlines to sign up or let them know there is a limited supply of products or spaces available, for example.

10. Start with Clever Subject Line

Some of the advice for the subject line is similar to the call to action. Keep it clear and concise, and create a sense of urgency. However, you can also make your subject lines personal by adding their name if you have the right tools. 

Another option is to make your subject lines intriguing with trendy or timely messaging or “how to…” subject lines. Of course, incentives such as free trials or discounts in your subject line will also help convert.

11. Time Emails Properly

You’ll want to make sure you know when you want your prospects to receive your email and any subsequent emails if you intend to create an entire drip campaign. Sending them too often can lead to a lower open rate, as can sending at the wrong time of day or week. 

Do some research to find out what others have done or ask your customers what they would prefer, so you know your timing will be sufficient.
